Inspiration:
Levitate was born from a simple idea: what if a guitar mount wasn’t just functional, but beautiful? We wanted something to showcase a guitar. For us, a guitar wall mount should not be hidden away; instead, it deserves to be displayed and should motivate you to grab your guitar more. That’s why we made Levitate, a piece of art that would make your guitar look like it’s floating—create maximum elegance while using minimum materials. Now your guitar gets to look as good as it sounds.
Design Timeline:
We started with the idea of easy-to-use and ultimate protection - what if you could literally throw your guitar at the wall and it would land perfectly without damage? During the early prototype stage, we tested layered silicone cushions, complex frame shapes, and even mimicked the broom holder design. But the more we added, the bulkier it got. It was surely safe, but it did not look exactly like the elegant display we imagined.
After wrestling with the overbuilt designs for months, we stripped everything back. What’s the bare minimum needed to hold a guitar securely? We played with a simple bent metal sheet at different angles. When we hit that magic 9-degree angle, suddenly it clicked- the guitar sat perfectly, looked like it was floating, and you could grab it in one smooth motion.
For the padding, leather won our hearts. It not only holds the neck gently, but also adds a touch of warmth against the cold metal. Plus, it ages beautifully and develops character over time, just like a well-loved guitar.
Manufacturing:
Finding someone who could bring Levitate to life turned out to be one of our toughest challenges.
We started with a manufacturer in China, confident they could deliver the flawless, mirror-like chrome finish like what we envisioned. But reality hit really hard. The high-gloss plating was brutally unforgiving; even the tiniest scratch or imperfection stood out clearly. After multiple rejected batches and 100% inspections, just when we thought we’d cracked it, shipping damage ruined more than half of the batch.
While looking for a new vendor with excellent craftsmanship, we realized we also needed to rethink our approach. With countless surface finish explorations, brushed black chrome caught our eyes. Its deeper texture is more forgiving in production, while its superior scratch resistance makes it ideal for daily use. The elegant, durable finish ensures both aesthetic appeal and long-lasting performance.
Now, I can’t remember how many vendors we burned during the manufacturing process and how much we paid for the back and forth. But here is the truth that no one tells you about minimal design: The simpler something looks, the harder it is to make right. I appreciate that we have finally gotten there. Your guitar deserves nothing less!
