Keeping it short and sweet

Most Christmas songs are short. You can get through them! December is often demanding on a schedule. If you have concerns about making time to practice, rest assured Christmas songs are a brief commitment. You can keep (or start) your habit of practice by playing just one Christmas song a day. Even better, short Christmas songs allow time to play several in a sitting or play your favourite song several times over.

You know the tune

Chances are you’ve played several of these songs and already have developed muscle memory. Even if you are a complete beginner, knowing how the song should sound allows you to quickly self-correct during play. This familiarity with the songs could even help you evolve the song into something new!

Start small and progress

There are elementary versions of Christmas songs listed, making it very easy to get started. For most instruments, the songs included in the list can be played without moving your hands out of position. Your fingers can make easy work of repeating notes and simply moving up and down the scale.
