This Guitar Scale Compass is a hands-on way to see how scales are built and how their patterns move across the fretboard. Slide the mechanical tool to a key and reveal the matching scale information, interval formulas and relative minor relationship—without depending only on memorised finger patterns.
An illustrated 88-page theory book adds the reasoning behind the visual layout. The bundle supports beginner through advanced guitarists who want to develop technique, explore soloing and songwriting, or teach scale construction more clearly.
Why You'll Love It
Change keys visually — The sliding mechanism reveals the scale in the key you select.
Understand the formula — Whole-step and half-step interval patterns show how scales are constructed.
Map the fretboard — See scale patterns and intervals across the neck instead of treating each shape as an isolated diagram.
Connect relative keys — The tool displays the relative minor for the selected major tonic.
Explore pentatonic and blues ideas — The supplied formulas show how these scales relate to the major-scale framework.
Learn with depth — The 88-page illustrated book breaks down scales, intervals and fretboard logic.
How to Use It
1. Choose the tonic or key you want to practice. 2. Move the slider until the chosen key and scale information are aligned. 3. Read the fretboard pattern, interval formula and relative minor relationship. 4. Use the book to study the construction, then apply the pattern in technique work, soloing or songwriting.
What You'll Learn / Explore
Explore scale shapes, interval formulas, whole and half steps, relative minor keys, pentatonic construction and the blues-scale variation. The visual approach helps connect what a scale looks like on the fretboard with the interval logic that makes it work.
A Complete Learning Set
The compass supplies a movable fretboard reference; the book turns that reference into a structured explanation of scales and intervals.

This and the chord compass is a must have for guitar players looking for visual aids that give you information on the fly. In this case, the scale compass gives you everything you could ask for when needing something to help with scales. Don't hesitate and buy this and the chord compass to learn guitar faster and most likely easier. You won't regret either one
This is it! This is what I’ve been looking for. A simple and easy to use way to learn and practice scales. High quality and just the right size to be easily read. I totally got my money’s worth just in the instruction manual that accompanied it. Worth every penny!
This is a well thought out piece of musical material for the guitarist ( they have other pieces of literature for piano as well) that gets you started with understanding scales, intervals, and how to build chords. It's easy to use, it's durable and suitable for the beginners. Face it, learning music on any instrument takes lots of time and practice! Of course, how much or how little is a personal preference. Noisey Clan's material will assist you along the way! I will be 70 years young this year and wish I had studied music a long, long time ago! Nevertheless, I will continue to learn and play as long as the good lord allows me to and I will continue to use this reference material. Thank you!

The guitar scale compass is a quick and easy way to visualise and play the guitar for Major, minor, pentatonic and blues scale. There is also a 88 page guide which informs and guides you how to utilise the correct fingering and technique to play the recognised scales on the fretboard. If you use the book and follow You Tube “Noisy Clan” guitar compass guide by David Law ( Noisy Clan) you will play more and practice less.
Once you learn the shapes and patterns it will become part of your continuous journey.
I really love this device, lots of information. It takes a minute to understand everything that's in front of you, but it really helps you grasp the way chords and scales go together.
Wow, great company and product….
I received a defective Guitar Scale Compass in my initial order but reached out to the team at Noisy Clan and they resolved the issue promptly with a replacement.
They sent me a replacement straight away to Australia!
Joe who I spoke to was such a great rep. No hassle. I sent a video of the problem that can happen with moving parts.
Thanks team!
Can’t recommend this tool enough! My song writing has easily gone to the next level using the 2 chord compass units together!
I have both sets of compasses
Great products!

the pen stand feature is genius
Hoping they make a minor triad compass the future

Very responsive staff
this item has made understanding scales an easier task. The manual is also very helpful. It is a better visual tool than trying to work with videos and books on theory. For the price, it is worth it.
Great music aids from this company. The Noisy Clan Scale Compass Decoder & Beginner Scale Book is a really well thought out and handy tool for me to find a scale quickly and begin playing.
I've only been utilizing Noisy Clan's offerings for a short time but these tools are amazing. While I'm mostly a complete novice at playing guitar, I can recognize just how clever the guitar and scale compass are. The execution at simplifying the caged system and scales with these simple analog devices is rather genius. Their posters are also a great visual aid that allow me to simply look up at my wall without having to fiddle around with a book/tablet/phone.
Pretty awesome little tool to help understand the fretboard. I have been playing for years and know a scale position or two but have never really clicked with scales. This provides a fantastic way to visualise the fretboard and really see how things connect across the entire guitar. I was really surprised by the book which was super helpful. I have not gone all the way through as I am still working through sections but loving the way it breaks things down into understandable chunks. It has a cool little feature that lets you stick a pencil in it to form a stand.
Another great product from Noisy Clan, I originally bought their Chord Compass and when I saw this it was a no brainer. Things I love:
• Easy to understand graphics which really help visualise how simple scales can be!
• Great introduction to scales that have helped me build on my chord knowledge from the other compass
• Really, really useful book. Often these products just come with a pamphlet but this book is 88 pages and beautifully illustrated. I can’t overstate how good the book for this product is and worth purchasing, not sure if they sell the product by itself but this book does compliment the tool really well.
I’m not sure what compass they will make next but I will 100% buy one!
I buy a lot of guitar learning tools and I really do like the guitar scale compass, it works really well. (I wish the caged shape notation was a little bit darker, but it's still readable) and the scale notes are really visible and helpful. Its a good tool, I would recommend it.
Excellent ideas, very effective solution. Only issue with the scale compass. The slider just move but not the slice itself, so nothing happens when I moved the slider in the back. I have to return but wish it was a keep!
Yes, the formula section includes the Pentatonic Rule: 'Skip 4 and 7' from the major scale.
Does it cover the blues scale?
Yes, the instructions state to 'Add ♭6 to Pentatonic' to build the blues scale.
Should the slider move freely?
Yes. The scale compass is a mechanical sliding tool and should move through its positions without being forced. If it arrives and doesn't feel 100% right, contact support under the 30-day warranty. hello@noisyclan.com
